Acceptance is the beginning of emotional renewal.
The debate of whether ´thick´ is a better way of saying fat or ´thick´ and fat are two different things, is still a topic that has plus size models and basically everyone sharing their opinions on the topic. Some women consider the word ´thick´ as insulting and some think it´s a sexy way of complimenting a sized woman.
In a discussion I had with a few girls the topic THICK vs FAT came up. What stood out in the in discussion was how everyone spoke about fat and body shapes. One said ¨Being fat is having the fat in the wrong places(referring to back fat and belly fat). And thick is having the fat in the right places(thighs and buttocks). This interested me and led me to thinking why do we consider a big butt the right place to have fat and when the fat is on the belly it´s considered unhealthy and unattractive? Hip pop would describe thick as fat in the ¨right places¨ but would you see any hip pop artist with a real thick woman?, Curvy, voluptuous and a bit of belly rolls? Doubtful.
I find the word ´fat´ derogatory because for a long time growing up the word was used to tease girls with big body sizes. Thick is a much more approved way of saying you have a big body frame and still sexy despite the body shape/type. When I hear the word ´thick´ I think of a strong and capable woman. A woman with all the back fat and belly rolls but still has confidence. While the society approves of slim girls and curvy woman with small waists, I still believe thick is real if the women have belly rolls or back fat and still manage to love themselves. That´s what we want. A society free of judgement according to body shape or body size.
